There’s so many things I hope I knew back then so I could have changed the tide early on… and here are some of those:

  1. I wish I knew my first boyfriend is not the one — so much energy and time wasted for something temporary… (but I gotta say it was a fun experience too!)
  2. Dad is Santa Claus  —  should I have known this, I could have been a good girl all the time. No wonder I always get coins instead of paper bill when I was a kid…
  3. Boss are also human — yes they are, and they are vulnerable as we are.  No need to be scared. Back when I was just starting in my professional career, I just thought they are some kind of higher being. And I feel so insecure and afraid getting near them. But now that I am one, well, I get to understand why most people think like that. The truth is, the only difference is “experience”.
  4. Everything shall pass — I remember the time when I was bullied as a kid. I thought my misery will never end, apparently, as we get old, we tend to get over it. And yes, that applies to every event of our life, whether it is dreadful or victorious moments, it will all pass… so don’t dwell on it too much.
  5. It’s ok to fail — back then I was too hard on myself whenever I get a low score in my exam. I exert too much energy on self-pity only to find out now that the key to success is to fail many times.
  6. Looks can be deceiving — when I was a kid, I always thought that if you look nice and neat, you are a good person. Apparently, now that I’m old, I know that this is totally untrue.
  7. Time is important — wasting time back then was just a common event, little did I know that I’ve wasted too much and now I’m worried if I have enough time to do what I need to do.
  8. Love yourself — before, I used to think that I’m happy if people likes me and appreciate me. But now, I realized that understanding yourself and accepting yourself for who you are can bring true joy.
